Many types of greens and fruit...also if you visit your local pet store's rabbit aisle there are often treats that are fine for them and packed with nutrients and vitamins. Before you feed them any fruit/greens/vegetables, you should Google whether or not they are safe. Obviously the store bought ones don't need to be checked

Animals don't need food treats and don't miss them if they don't have them. It's only people who need to give treats.

It's better to stick with purpose-made food for your particular kind of pet. If your rabbits enjoy being cuddled, talked to, or stroked, that's the best possible treat they could have, and the one they'd remember for longer than any food.

Rabbits will run to greet you if you give them a treat.

There is no harm in giving a treat that they would normally find in nature. A carrot, apple, or small sprig of alfalfa or clover, just don't over do it.

Treats for rabbits are certain fresh fruits and vegetables (like carrot, and apple). The House Rabbit Society recommends no more than 2 tablespoons of treat food per day for a normal, healthy 6 pound rabbit. See the related question below for more info about the rabbit diet.

Rabbits should not have human foods at all (like crackers, cereals, breads, sweets). Rabbits should not have any dairy, nuts, seeds, chocolate, coffee, animal fats or any animal byproducts.

An occasional treat is a nice part of a balanced rabbit diet, although too many can lead to all manner of illnesses. A treat can be a welcome change from the usual diet - a little burst of sweetness to brighten your rabbit's day; they can also be helpful in training. However, it's important not to overdo treats, and to stick to healthy options.

See the related question below for info about the rabbit diet.

Some treat options include:

The best treats for rabbits are natural and fresh: fruits and vegetables in season, like apple, carrot, and berries. These foods are high in sugars and/or carbs, but they are full of healthy nutrients. The House Rabbit Society recommends no more than 2 tablespoons per day for a normal, healthy 6 pound rabbit. Some people give their rabbits dried fruits, like raisins, but these are even more high in sugar than fresh fruits so they should be fed extra-sparingly. Frozen and canned fruits and vegetables have lost a lot of their nutrients in the processing and should be avoided entirely.

Some people also give their rabbits treats of grains, but if so you should stick to the whole grain (the groat or "berry" it's sometimes called) because, like fruits and veggies, these are high in carbs but still with some healthy nutrients (like bran, which is a fibre, and fibre is good for rabbits). Processed grains, like rolled oats, are very high in fats and low in nutritional value so they're just not good for rabbits at all and they should be avoided. A good serving size is two groats for a 6 pound rabbit.

There are commercial rabbit treats available in many pet stores, and some of these aren't terrible but, again, they're not as nutritional as fresh foods. These treats are also much more expensive than fresh foods in season, and your rabbit won't like them any better than fresh treats, so it's just better to skip the commercial treats entirely.

Although some people also feed their rabbits "human" foods (like cereal) as a treat, this is widely advised against. Human foods contain all sorts of additives that are bad for rabbits; and even if they're very plain, they don't have nutritional value for bunnies.

What if you give a rabbit candy?

Rabbits SHOULD NOT be given any candies or any unnatural processed foods, this can damage their health. You instead should go to your local pet supply store and look for healthy rabbit treats to give to your rabbit when he/she pleases you. For the best of choices, look for treats that do not contain any of these things: - Artificial colors - Artificial flavors - Sugars - High in fats What I strongly recommend, is that you give your rabbit calcium rich leafy greens and roots ( carrots for example ) as a good treat for your rabbit to keep them in the best of health. And remember not to eat so much treats yourself ;)

Do rabbits eat kiwi?

Rabbits will eat any number of things (I knew a little boy who fed watermelon to his rabbit) but I wouldn't recommmend it. A rabbit should be fed a balanced diet of rabbit pellets. Many 'treats' can be given but should be limited. The best treats are sunflower seeds, carrots and orange wedges all in moderation.
