The three basic planes of the body used in medicine are sagittal, coronal or frontal, and axial.
The sagittal plane is a plane cutting down the body splitting the body into right and left sides. If the plane is through the middle of the body, making equal right and left halves, the plane is called mid-sagittal.
The coronal plane is much like the sagittal, except the plane splits the body into anterior and posterior parts.
The axial plane is the plane most often used in computed tomography (CT) scans. It splits the body into superior and inferior (or cephalad and caudad) parts.
Other planes include oblique, which is like axial, but set at an angle.
Body planes are arbitrary demarcations that allow doctors and others to communicate about the location in the body of a particular structure or condition. For example, a tumor might be 2 cm left of the midsagittal plane and on the visceral membrane of such-and-such organ. A radiologist might report this and the surgeon would know where to look.
What are the body planes commonly used in anatomy
There are 3 major anatomical planes. Transverse/axial, sagittal, and coronal.
sagittal, frontal, and transverse
Front and Back
sagittal, transverse, coronal.

well all the body planes separate the body into two planes. the frontal plane separates it into anterior(front) and posterior(back) sagital separates medial and lateral, transverse superior and inferior.
It is any plane parallel to the sagittal plane.
Sagittal
Planes that divide the body into superior and inferior portions, and that are at right angles to both the sagittal and coronal planes are termed transverse planes.
