To be clear, it is not sex or contact (like swallowing semen) that "causes" HIV.
It is - unprotected - sex that includes the exchange of bodily fluids with someone who is already infected/carrying HIV that can cause the spread of the disease.

It was originally believed that HIV could not be transmitted through oral sex. While that was absolutely proven to be un-true, it is likely a more difficult method of transmission than other sex process.

Of course, first the blood must contain the virus to catch it. If the blood does contain the virus, it is possible be infected, but more than likely you would not be infected.

And yes, if you swallow the semen of someone who is HIV positive, you can catch it from that.
