Each desert has distinct characteristic's. Some are hot, some are cold and covered by ice and snow. Some are sandy, some are rocky. Some have considerable vegetation, some are barren. The only characteristic that all deserts have in common is they all receive less than 10 inches (250 mm) of precipitation per year.
