Juliet took a potion that would make her appear dead so that she wouldn't have to marry parris. (She took it the night before she was supposed to get married i think). The plan was to have her "buried" in the tomb and then she would wake up and go somewhere with Romeo (who she was married to at this time). but yeah....the plan didn't go well...
