What are the consequence of holding ineffective meetings?

Since they are ineffective, there seems to be no results, no one is really listened to, etc. there is a general sense of frustration. Frustration because people don't want to waste their time, they want to solve problems. And there is anger with management and management loses credibility as the attendees begin to wonder why have the meetings since management is just going to do what they plan to do anyway or such meetings can put management incompetence on full display for all to see. Meetings need to be planned, thought out, with an end result in mind, with input from everyone, the acceptance of ideas from both management and non management, and a plan to implement what's been agreed to.
