Well, if you violate your scope of practice:
1) Make sure it's an emergency
2) Make sure no one near-by, i.e. your partner, is qualified to do it. Otherwise, let them.
3) You better make sure that action saves your patient's life
If these are true, your medical director will probably look over it.
If not, I believe you can be taken to court. Assuming, your medical director wants to do that, and/or your patient knows what is and is not in your scope
EMTs typically work with a partner. Depending on if you are on a paid squad or a volunteer will depend on who your partner is.
EMTs are involved in the field of emergency medicine. EMTs provide immediate pre-hospital emergency care, first aid, and transport to the sick, pregnant, and injured. What they can and cannot do varies depending on state and local protocol and the amount of training that the EMTs have.
