There are no 'lines'.

There may be marks on a ruler, but you wouldn't ask "Near what mark on the ruler is the

width of the table ?" You'd want to know it exactly, even if it falls between the marks.

In downtown Columbus, the center of the intersection of East Broad St. and 3rd St is located at

39° 57' 45.2" north latitude

82° 59' 52.1" west longitude

That's not the curb, or the Quizno's about 100 ft west of the intersection.

It's the point right in the center, where the mid-lines of both streets cross.

You can draw reference lines wherever you want on the map, and as many as you want.

But that's the latitude and longitude of that particular point. Other points in the city have

different coordinates.
