A weakened immune system causes a person to become vulnerable to opportunistic bacteria, viurses, and fungal infections. This can occur as a result of disease process (cancer, HIV, metabolic disorders, or tissue injury) genetic predispositions or family history, or dysfunction of the liver, spleen, kidneys or bone marrow. A weakenend immune system can also be as a result of autoimmune disorders or in response to chemical agents (environmental, medications, chemotherapy, toxic chemical exposures). Measures should be taken to protect oneself during periods of low immunity. Avoid large crowds and those who are ill, or wear a mask to prevent contracting contagious viruses and bacterial infections. Getting plenty of rest, fluids and good nutrition, decreasing stress, washing hands frequently, and using extra care in food preparation are ways to avoid becoming ill. Finally, follow your physician's direction regarding ways to boost your body's resistance, and devise a plan of care to ensure your safety during times of low immunity.

Your immune system will not be able to stand up to infedtious diseases and it'll be harder to recover. # Alcohol can depress the body's immune system in many ways. It can contribute to a higher risk of Infectious Diseases and other undesirable medical conditions. Additionally, the typical lifestyle of a person who consumes excessive amounts of alcohol may not lend itself to healthy habits such as proper nutrition, sleep, and exercise. Poor lifestyle choices, including excessive alcohol consumption, can directly lead to a weakened immune system. http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4926661_does-alcohol-affect-immune-system.html

When your immune system is damaged it cannot fight off various diseases, viruses, and infections. This is because it can't properly produce proper white blood cells in a great enough quantity. White blood cells are necessary for the body to locate and fight off malignant foreign bodies.
