Apart from their size - their saliva is loaded with bacteria and germs. They usually work as a group to attack large animals such as buffalo. They normally bite the animal on the leg, and the bite becomes infected both from the lizard's saliva and the germs present in water pools the buffalo bathe in. Once bitten, Komodo dragons will literally follow their victim (sometimes for days) until, eventually, the animal dies from blood poisoning - and the lizards feast as a group.
