There were Girl Guide groups in France as early as 1911 when the first Protestant scout and guide units were started by the Unions Chrétiennes des Jeunes Filles (YWCA).
Yes. Girl Guide and Girl Scout Brownie ages vary with the country and the organization you belong to, but most are ages 7 to 11. At 12 years of age, you would be in a different Girl Guide/Girl Scout level. For Girl Scouts of the USA, you would be a Girl Scout Cadette. For GirlGuiding UK and Girl Guides Canada, you would be a Guide.
There are many different Girl Scout (and Girl Guide) organizations around the world. The levels are also varied, from two levels for Girl Guides in Australia (Australian Guide Program and Olave Program), to 6 levels for Girl Scouts of the USA. For Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) there are 6 levels plus adult members: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador.
