Exposition is the imparting of information concerning a character's thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc. and also any information that is interesting or necessary to the story. Narration, on the other hand, is the telling of the actual action of the story, as opposed to showing it through scene. An example of exposition would be: John looked at Bob and hated him; it wouldn't take much for him to pick something up and beat him senseless with it. Notice that information about John's feelings concerning Bob is imparted. An example of narration would be: John hated Bob so much that he grabbed the Baseball bat and chased Bob down, beating him bloody. Notice that we have been told about a story action.
