Mixtures are substances that are made by physical combination of one or more substances and none of the constituent elements are changed. The basic classification of mixtures is into homogeneous and heterogeneous substances. They can also be further divided under these two categories in to solutions, dispersions or colloids.
Air is a homogeneous mixture of the gaseous substances nitrogen, oxygen, and smaller amounts of other substances. Salt, sugar, and many other substances dissolve in water to form homogeneous mixtures. A homogeneous mixture in which there is both a solute and solvent present is also a solution. Heterogeneous mixtures include fine sand or silt in water.
Rocks are the ones which are usually made up of mixtures of different kinds of minerals. This is what defines the various properties that different rocks have.

Physical
The Dionex company manufactures chromatography, ion chromatography, and extraction systems for identifying components of chemical mixtures. Chromatography is the process of separating different kinds of mixtures.
There are two types of mixtures: homogeneous and heterogeneous. Homogeneous mixtures have uniform composition throughout and consist of a single phase, like saltwater. In contrast, heterogeneous mixtures have non-uniform composition and can be separated into distinct phases, like a salad with different ingredients.
solutions, colloids and suspensions
Depending up on the variable amount of different substances in the mixtures these can be different.
Heterogeneous Mixture- a mixture in which different materials can be distinguished easily. a.k.a. unevenly mixe -Amanderr Heterogeneous Mixtures- A mixture in which different materials can be distinguished easily. a.k.a. unevenly mixed
Both mixtures and pure substances have measurable and observable chemical properties and physical properties. A liquid mixture vaporizes over a temperature range; whereas, a pure substance boils at a fixed temperature.
There are many kinds of liquid mixtures, and many kinds of containers in which such mixtures can be heated, which would include such things as pots, flasks, cauldrons, alembics, etc.
The two types of substances are pure substances and mixtures. Pure substances are made of only one type of particle and cannot be separated into other substances by physical means, while mixtures are made of two or more different substances that are physically combined and can be separated by physical means.
Solutions are homogeneous mixtures; suspensions are heterogeneous mixtures;
