So is the kind of scale where you add lead weights to one side and the item you are measuring to the other side, and try to balance both sides to achieve the required weight- the kind of scale used in old-fashioned grocery stores. However "spring balance scales" are highly unreliable (and get worse with use), so should be avoided wherever possible.
