well, I've done both. Worked in a playschool, and babysat alot. Baby sitting is more one on one time with the kid, in a familiar environment for you or the kid. either way, one of you is familiar with it. Play school is based on the focus of having young kids have interaction with others there age.
Play a board game. Read to them. color. play. keep them away from the kitchen

You can play games. You could take the children for a walk or play outside. Give them food if they are hungry.
Cook, play with the kid outside, tan, swim.. Whatever grabs you.. I find babysitting awfully fun cause their so cute and little.. :D
