The disadvantages of using tracking sheets or flow charts when observing children are that you are unable to interact and so you are unable to give a detailed description of their movements within reference to fine and gross motor skills, you are also unable to note other developmental milestones such as emotional development and intellectual development. Alongside this, this method can be very messy as arrows or lines go everywhere and the method needs to be pre-planned and so is not specific.
