The only disadvantage of having a debit card is you are making a high amount of purchase that you have no money in your checking account to cover that amount of purchase. A lot of people do not know how to balance their checkbook so they think that they have that amount of money in their checking but really it takes the bank longer to process that amount that you electronically or hand written check is a lot different.
