Is a lawyer the same thing as an attorney?
Even though both terms are used interchangeably, they actually are two different things. An attorney is an individual who is trained to represent a client in court, or represent a client on their behalf if not present. A lawyer is an individual who gives clients legal advice. However, because many individuals who practice law in the US do both duties, both lawyer and attorney have come to mean the same thing.
