the effects of backlash in machine slides and screws include wrong mesuremets being made and therefore this would cause the workpiece to be worng and therefore you would need to start the workpice again, this would be a waste of time and matierials. this can be overcome by ensuring that before mesurents are made that you check there is no backlash and that when you turn the handles it moved straight away, or reporting the problem to your instructor so it can be fixed.
