The largest number of environmental protection laws, major investments in research for clean technologies and companies, the creation of NGOs and more active participation of society are a global reality. All these advances are not enough to save the planet and the outlook is bleak. The subject is complex and involves political, economic, social and even cultural ties between all nations and for the resolution of this problem is not so simple. In Brazil, there is increasing environmental awareness and stricter laws there, but there is still no effective political action in this area. Clear that these attitudes are changing, albeit slowly. In the current election campaigns have included some parties in his government plans environmental issues such as the Kyoto treaty. Although the country is becoming increasingly important in the environmental front other Latin American countries, Brazil is still occurring in the largest ecological disasters attributed to industry (Braga, 2002).
For that environmental damage does not reach major proportions, ie, irreversible damage will be essential in this century that all peoples to unite. Environmental education is absolutely necessary to educate the society and thereby obtain more active participation of the same. The adoption of a more efficient environment policy with stricter laws, environmental monitoring, adequate and continuous supervision, greater investment in research on environmentally sustainable solutions to environmental problems and tax incentives to businesses, will be the only viable alternative to contain the damage to the environment
