Where an overhead coil is being installed, the garage door header will serve as a suitable mounting surface for the coil. Installing a sectional door or a coil door should be done by a professional, and not attempted by anyone who is not familiar with the operation of these doors. With wood garage doors, the installation begins by standing the door in the opening, with several ½” shims to elevate it from the garage floor.
