Up to Office 2003 the Word extension was .doc and Powerpoint was .ppt. From Office 2007 onwards Word is .docx and PowerPoint is .pptx so just add an x at the end of each.
You can download various extensions of power point in MS PowerPoint. These might include various layouts and fonts.
