Mountains are high elevations. For planes and helicopters, they represent hazards. For hikers, they mean longer and harder paths, and potential falls. If there is one between you and civilization, or you and water, it is an obstacle. The highest ones also have less oxygen in the air. Ice and snow can accumulate and form avalaches, and rocks can break off and fall. And if it is a volcano, eruptions and lava flows are definitely not safe to be near.

On the bright side, they look impressive, have great views, and you can ski down them when it snows.

MOUNTAIN HAZARDS :

  1. Landslides, rock slides, and avalanches
  2. Volcanoes (eruption)
  3. Cold weather climates
  4. Blizzards and storms
  5. Can fall off a cliff
  6. Less air at higher elevations
  7. Predatory wildlife
  8. Thick vegetation
  9. Difficult navigation and communication
  10. Glaciers and crevasses
