ezio's little brother used to collect feathers. I guess you find them is kind of a way to remember him and they get your mom to talk to you when you have collected a certain amount. did i ruin it for you?
If I understand your question...vague as it is...the feathers in Assassin's Creed 2 is a continuation of Ezio's youngest brother's project to collect eagle feathers for a 'secret' purpose, of which we never learn. These feathers are scattered around the cities Ezio visits in his pursuit of vengeance and collecting all 100 is a chore indeed.
Unfortunately, there are no maps you can buy in the game to aid you in finding the feathers. The best way to go about getting them is going to Google and typing in Assassin's Creed feather maps. Crossing off the locations as you go is your best option. But be wary. If you miss even one and cross it off, you will have to go through them all over again.
There is a reward for acquiring all of the feathers: The Auditore Cape. Unfortunately, if you wear it outside of Monteriggioni, you will immediately become notorious.
In the original assassin's creed, the feathers are used to mark and prove the death of victims. In the other games, feathers are collectibles for achievements. In assassin's creed II, collecting 50 feathers yields a new weapon, the Condottiero War Hammer. Collecting 100 feathers yields the Auditore cape.
