They both produce seeds. Gymnosperm means "naked seed" as the seeds are not enclosed but rather in the cones or on the tip of the branch. The angiosperms have enclosed seeds, as inside a fruit or berry. They both produce secondary wood and bark (xylem and phloem) by cell division in the cambium.
