It depends which type of festivals:
The religious ones gather a lot of people, they are pios and usually consist of elderly folk. see ST Andrew of Christmas
The national ones gather all ages of people, they are public organised manifestations and usually have a military parade. see the National Day or The Union Day
The cultural festivals usually gather youth, are filled with concerts and fun activities and people party on the streets in the evening and then until dawn in a pub/bar. see Medieval Fest of Sighisoara or Folk fest in Vama Veche
