Interphase (commonly not used but still important to mitosis), prophase, prometaphase (sometimes not used, but in higher education it is used because metaphase is so long), metaphase, anaphase, telophase/cytokinesis.
The first phase of mitosis is prophase.
the second stage of mitosis is metaphase.
the third stage of mitosis is anaphase.
The final phase of mitosis is telophase.
Well, Mitosis is a part of the cell cycle, or the life cycle of a cell. Its 4 steps are Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase. Some people prefer to include cytokinesis (the separating of the cytoplasm of 2 daughter cells) as the 5th stage in Mitosis.
Four phases: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase and Telophase
Prophase: nuclear envelope disintegrates, centrioles (microtubules) begin to form on both ends of the cell, and spindle fibers forming
Metaphase: (Meta = middle) spindle fibers attach to centromere (centromere --> holds the sister chromatids together), chromosomes line up in the MIDDLE (connected to spindle fibers)
Anaphase: (Ana --> away) The spindle fibers pull the sister chromatids apart and AWAY from eachother to opposite ends of the cell.
Telophase: Nuclear envelope begins re-forming. Spindle fibers disappear, cell ready to separate into daughter cells.
Mitosis , process of nuclear division in a living cell by which the carriers of hereditary information, or the chromosomes, are exactly replicated and the two copies distributed to identical daughter nuclei.
Mitosis is almost always accompanied by cell division (cytokinesis), and the latter is sometimes considered a part of the mitotic process.
PMAT Stages Mitosis is simply described as having four stages—prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase; the steps follow one another without interruption.
The entire four-stage division process averages about one hour in duration, and the period between cell divisions, called interphase or interkinesis, varies greatly but is considerably longer.

mitosis?
Mitosis is the process that cells go through to duplicate. The phases of mitosis are prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.
The 4 phases of Mitosis are: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase.
