It is the giant evergreen called the redwood. They are only found in the southern most 15 miles of Oregon and in the North of California. Its scientific name is Sequoia sempervirens,although it is often called a Coast Redwood or California Redwood. It is the only living species in the genus Sequoia, in the Cypress family.
