The U.S. Virgin Islands were originally settled by Ciboney, Caribs and Arawaks. They were named by Christopher Columbus on his 2nd voyage. So it really depends on what you mean by discovered, - the first people to settle there were the native peoples, the first person to name them was Christopher Columbus, and the first European peoples to settle there were the Danish West India Company.
