well, they are used to attract other female cobras.The darker the hoods the more impressive and attractive they are.I once met a cobra mating in the amazon whilst i was on my expeditions, which was mating with another cobra.This greatly facinated me and encouraged me to explore into the lives and the backgrounds of these cobras.
