Formal and informal are designations given by an 'authorising' body, usually the government but can also be a church etc. Formal social control agencies are then those agencies of the government that are authorised with social control roles, the police for example, and informal social controls agencies are social networks or organisations that are implicitly supported by the government but not directly created or controlled by the government.
Social control is of two types: #1 Informal social control: Informal social control is "unofficial" and tend to occur in small groups. they are of 4 types: *social rewards *punishments *persuasion *redefined norms #2 Formal social control: Formal social control is official and is carried out by enforcing laws and rules by the authoritarian agencies. they include: *school *mass media *religion *state *family
There is no such thing as the agencies of social control in mass media but mass media is an agency of social control because it is a way of controlling the way we act.

Social Control
Society's mechanisms to maintain social control can best be described when placed in three categories: Legal, Medical, and Informal social control. Legal social control is when the use of the judicial system directly affects human behavior. In some regions of the world it is unacceptable for women to have intercourse before marriage. As a result, very few women do, and those who do are dealt with in the judicial system and are socially reduced. Medical social control utilizes medication such as Prozac for depression, Trilafon for schizophrenia and mania, and Ritalin for attention hyperactivity deficit disorder (ADHD). Medical control also relies on counseling/therapy sessions including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), group therapy, and hypnosis. Each one of these medical means of social control aim to normalize socially deviant behavior. The last and most common mechanism is Informal social control. Humans of every culture experience this almost daily. This is the dirty look someone gives another when they say something out of line or the verbal criticism dished out to someone for their illogical choices. Informal social control can be as simple as being ignored for being "uncool". Inversely, society will also reward favorable conformity to norms. If someone has a good sense of humor and can light other people up, it is probable that they are well liked and desired in social settings. These are all examples of Informal social control. To further research this ideological way of breaking down social control, see Social Control: An introduction by James J. Chriss.
Those that lead us to internalize our society’s normative expectations, those that employ various formal and informal social sanctions and those that structure our world of social experience.
I'm not sure, maybe how were shaped in the environment of our classes
Informal social control consists of all those mechanisms and practices of ordinary, everyday life whereby group pressures to conform are brought to bear against the individual.
Social control involves regulating individual behavior within a society to maintain order and conformity to norms. It can be exerted through informal mechanisms like socialization and peer pressure, as well as formal mechanisms like laws and regulations. The principles of social control aim to prevent deviant behavior, encourage compliance with societal rules, and promote social cohesion.
