The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) is an organization whose members compete in rodeos throughout North America, primarily in the United States. The PRCA sanctions rodeo venues and events through the PRCA Circuit System. Its championship event is the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The PRCA is headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO.
The PRCA was founded by not one person, but instead by a group of cowboys. These cowboys were protesting the mishandling of money at the Boston Gardens Rodeo in 1936. They formed a group called the Cowboy's Turtle Association, and the group eventually changed their name to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
In North America, one can go to an official training center that is governed by an organization such as the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association or the Professional Bull Riders Association. Some of these places include a high school rodeo center or a Junior Rodeo Association center.
In the USA, it's the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. In the UK, it's the Public Relations Consultants Association -the professional body that regulates and represents PR agencies ( prca.org.uk )
Women's Professional Rodeo Association was created in 1948.
