There are quite a number of various things that one can get from the MSN's Emoticons section. Some of the emoticons that one can get are smiley faces, frowning faces, and a heart.
One can download Get Smile or Smiley Arena to get MSN emoticons. If one is interested in rude emoticons one can download them from the website Sherv.

you chat to your friends ask them if they have emoticons if they do have tell them to give some to you press on the emoticon and it will have a black square right click on it and it will say add... then you add it you can also get emoticons from SweetIM and smileycentral regan
Codes to MSN Messenger emoticons are displayed once you hover them. Go to any conversation window, click at the emoticons icon and you'll see them. You can click at "show all" or "more" to see the complete list. Please, notice that you can not add personalized emoticons to your name or personal message.
