You get new guns at different levels, such as you get a special shotgun (I can't remember which one and my sister is on the wii) once you reach level 7 and you get a woffel pistol at level 51. If you want to check and see what the level requirements are for the different guns, go to the custom loadouts and select your primary weapon.
