You would use a cat5 (usually called ethernet) for connecting maybe a computer to a switch. Or connecting a server to a router/firewall... Its probably one of the most common network cables you could use, well for home and small to medium sized buisnesses anyway.
CAT7 is a cable standard for Ethernet and other interconnect technologies that can be made to be backwards compatible with traditional Cat 5 and Cat 6 Ethernet cable. Cat 7 features even more strict specifications forcrosstalk and system noise than Cat 6. To achieve this, shielding has been added for individual wirepairs and the cable as a whole. Category 7 is recognized for all the country organizations members of ISO.
The Cat 7 cable standard has been created to allow 10 Gigabit Ethernet over 100 m of coppercabling (also, 10-Gbit/s Ethernet now is typically run on Cat 6a). The cable contains four twisted copper wire pairs, just like the earlier standards. Cat 7 can be terminated either with 8P8Ccompatible GG45 electrical connectors which incorporate the 8P8C standard or with TERAconnectors. When combined with GG45 or TERA connectors, Cat 7 cable is rated for transmission frequencies of up to 600 MHz.
Category 5 cables are twisted pair cables that carry electronic signals. A common use if for establishing an ethernet connection to the internet. The difference between a Category 5 and Category 5e cable is that the 5e cable improves upon the category 5 specification.
About cat 5e cables
Cat5 is known as category 5 cables and is basically known as twisted pair cables used for carrying signals. People used this cable in structured cabling for computer networks such as Ethernet. It provides performance up to 100 MHz and it is suitable for 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and even for Gigabit 1000Base-T.
Cat 5e UTP PVC Solid cable
For high-speed LANs such as Gigabit Ethernet applications basically, Connectix enhanced category 5 UTP cable used. Why? This cable provides you outstanding performance when it is required for transmission over all pairs.
Cat5e applications comprise the transmission of huge data sets and multimedia solutions. This cable is able to establish a link multiple LAN device or a single computer connection. If you see within a business network, this patch cabling will connect a scope of devices that include ports, patch panels and ports.
Category 5 or 6 cable.
One may use Cat5e network cable in bulk to connect to the internet or ethernet. Large amounts of cable may be used in a business or office setting to improve signals and connections.

Cat6 cable is very similar to Cat5e cable. It is, simply put, just held to a stricter standard than Cat5e cable. Since Cat6 is made to a higher standard than Cat5e it will support higher speed transfers. Cat5e cable can be used for networks up to a 1Gbps speed while Cat6 is currently rated for up to 10Gbps speed. Cat7 takes this even further and supports 40Gbps. For normal usage on networks up to 1Gbps and no run being longer than 100 meters, Cat5e is completely sufficient for the network. To ensure forwards compatibility it may be worthwhile to install Cat6 cable while you're at it so you don't hit a speed cap in your network down the road.
One can purchase a cat5e patch cable at a local department store such as Walmart, Target, AAFES, and the NEX. One could also purchase online at sites such as Amazon.
another name for an ethernet cable is a cat5 or cat5e cable
it is not UPT ,it is UTP which stands Unshielded Twisted Pair. The UTP is mainly used for network cabling i.e; LAN cabling.
