The PCI Express x1, or Periphereal Content Interchange Express, is an exspansion for the standard bus found in older PCs. It allows faster connection for sound, graphics or LAN cards.
A PCI express x16 is faster than an x1. An x16 has 16 'lanes' while the x1 has only 1.
AGP
PCI Express currently comes in four different slot sizes; the longest size (PCI Express x16) and the shortest size (PCI Express x1) There are also The accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) and also Industry Standard Architecture. (ISA) :-)
PCI is used for many things like extra subport for your computer like if you have a PCI express card for Graphics, your computer will be able to use it and have better graphics for gaming or but there so many things you can put into a PCI slot but there are different sizes of PCI slot and they are: PCI X1 PCI X16 PCI Express which is all used for about everything if you have those you can make your computer awesome
The Compaq Presario CQ5210F has only one legacy PCI slot, but it has three PCI Express slots (1 x16 and 2 X1)
It is the next step up from pci....the longer slots, so in the future things like sound cards, network cards will fit these slots......
There are several different expansion slots that are compatible with video adapter cards. PCI, AGP, and PCI-Express x1 are all formats that are rarely used these days. The most popular format at the moment is PCI-Express x16.
The bus, for example: PCI-Express (x1, x4, x16) or PCI, or AGP. To imagine this for yourself, it's the slot in your pc, on your motherboard, with that slot, your video card will have to be compatible with. this means, you can't insert a PCI-Express Video Card into an AGP slot. :)
Speed. x16 would be 16 times faster. the only other difference would be the size of the slot. if its a x1 pci slot only a x1 card will fit. however if its a x16 pci slot it can fit any pci_e card. x1,x4,x8,or x16

In fact there are a huge variety of PCI Express video cards. If you plan on looking at some or even buying them, go to tigerdirect.com, click on PC Parts at the top, scroll down and click on PCI Express for video cards. I'm am most sure that this will be very helpful.
That depends on which PCI slot Standard PCI slots are used by sound cards, network adapters, USB expansion cards and some video cards Some sound cards, network adapters and Wi-Fi cards use PCI Express x1 PCI Express x16 is strictly for video
