England has its own church because King Henry wanted to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon, but the Pope would not allow it, so he made his own church to divorce her.

The Church of England is a Christian church and the Mother Church of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

In the US the church that is most like the Church of England, in philosophy, is the Episcopal Church.
