The math is quite simple, but sometimes a player must perform many such calculations and juggle them in his head at the same time to make the best decisions. The game is heavier in logic and critical thinking skills, which of course are vital to solving many math problems. Magic the Gathering is really as complex as you make it--kids will focus on the simpler integer math, while older players engage in much higher-level mathematical thinking.
