The most rewarding Pokemon battles in any game are ones in which you learn something about battle tactics or just barely acheive a victory. When you have Pokemon on low levels against an experienced opponent (especially in the Pokemon League, towards the end), what happens during a battle shows you how well you have developed your training skills. I find that Wi-Fi battles are the most rewarding as you discover new battle tactics and new Pokemon combinations you can use to improve your team.

To transfer the PokeRus condition to other Pokemon, have the infected Pokemon in the party with the desired Pokemon and take it out to battle.
