Actually, there is nobody in the band named "Duran." The members of the band came from Birmingham, England, and they used to have a favorite nightclub, called Barbarella's. When they were naming their new band, they got some inspiration from the name "Barbarella"-- which was also the name of a popular 1968 science-fiction movie. One of the characters in that movie was a bad guy named "Dr. Durand Durand." They liked the way that sounded, and decided to call their band Duran Duran.
