"Argentina's last dictator was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison for torture and kidnappings committed during the nation's 1976-1983 military regime. Reynaldo Bignone, 82, was convicted along with five other former military officers for 56 cases involving torture, illegal detentions and other crimes in one of Argentina's largest torture centres, the Campo de Mayo military base. Human rights groups said that of the 4,000 dissidents taken to the base, about 50 emerged alive." From the Independent of London.
For one, he stirs up the "people," making them unhappy with the present situation.

According to their constitution they do have rights. However, Chavez rules as a dictator and routinely violates constitutional rights.
Some estimate as many as 30,000 "disappeared". The dictator at the time, Jorge Videla, said only 8,000 were "disappeared".
Raul Castro took over Fidel Castro's dictatorship in February of 2008. He is a dictator by ruling his people in very restricted ways. He does not give back to his people things like health benefits or payment for their work. The people of Cuba do not have freedom of speech or religion ( it is limited.) He doesn't let people in or out of the country.

The people as in the Plebians likely weren't unhappy during Gaius Julius Caesar's time. He was a populist, meaning that he addressed the needs of common people, often against the Senate's wishes. That is how he amassed his power, largely. The Senate was unhappy with him for this very reason. He was undermining their power by appealing to the people, and ignoring the Senate's demands. They felt he was gaining a lot of political clout unchecked. When he named himself dictator perpetuo (dictator for life), they were outraged at his audacity, and had him killed. Dictators were, by law, only allowed to be elected by the Senate and only in times of extreme distress for six months at a time, then had to step down. So for Gaius Julius to come in and name himself dictator with no approval, that was a big scandal. Thus, they had him killed. Edit: Just to claim this answer as my own, lol. I wrote it without being signed in.
Definitely, imprisoning, torturing and killing people because they disagree with his ideas. Also, dictators do not allow freedom of speech.
Many people in the world see President Assad as a brutal dictator, and the 'terrorists' of Syria as freedom fighters.
Neither. The oligarchy is a religious run government while a tyranny is a secular dictator. Both do not give people choice nor civil rights.
The dictator
