You can protect archaeology in several ways. Firstly, people should be aware of the value and understand the need to protect their cultural heritage. Therefore, public should be informed. Secondly, the local authorities have to know the presence of archaeological sites: they can regulate building activities en protect the site.
There are probably thousands. Most archaeologists specialize in one geographic area or one time period, often both! An archaeologist may also specialize in a particular aspect such as flora or fauna, architecture, ceramics or lithics. There is no end to the possibilities.
