It contains the right amount of carbon, nitrogen and oxygen. Its distance from the sun helps maintain a narrow temperature range. It has a strong magnetic field.
Its distance from the Sun helps maintain a narrow temperature range.
Water and air support much of life as we currently know it.
Earth's atmosphere and the sun.
The perfect balance in the three following spheres, make earth habitable:
Geophysical aspect: shape, gravitational &magnetic fields, internal structure& composition.
Geochemical aspect: hydrosphere - water on, under and over the surface of earth
atmosphere - gasses surrounding earth, held in place by its
gravity.
Astrophysical aspect: the stars, galaxies, planets and exoplanets, including the
intersteller medium.
All of the above are so perfectly balanced to make earth habitable, even a slightest inbalance can couse a huge problem. Other planets have inbalance in the abeve aspects which make them inhabitable or not suitable for life.
Scientifically speaking that's a very broad question, and can depend on the actual planet itself. But perhaps I can answer your question with another question.
Earth has life on it....? What are the requirements for life on earth? What does an animal, plant, or microbe need to survive?
That answer is simple:
1. Water - All life on earth requires water.
2. Food - All life on earth requires food to survive, whether that's a plant that makes it's own food through photosynthesis, or an animal that hunts for its food, or a bacteria that feeds on the waste of other animals.
3. Reproduction - In order for any species to continue to survive, it must be able to reproduce.
Those are the basic requirements of life.
-- atmosphere containing free oxygen -- atmosphere shielding against UV -- ozone layer in upper atmosphere -- axis of rotation generally perpendicular to orbital plane -- magnetic field that deflects the solar wind -- liquid water -- temperature near the triple point of water -- range of temperature sufficiently narrow, over appreciable portion of the planet's surface, conducive to the chemistry of life
it contains the right amounts of carbon nitrogen and oxygen
It has a strong magnetic field

the air,water,plants and food
because earth has oxygen and water on it.

the top soil of earth can support life
There is a planet that can support life, it is just that the earth still has many years to come before we go to another planet
Earth is the only planet known to support and have intellegent life.
