All religious enterprises are being run by con-artists in charge in disguise as the clergy. The cons find comfort and power in harassing and lording over ignorant, naive believers. The clergy want to convert as many gullible secular souls through deceit as possible in order to initiate them into their religious congregations so they can start collecting money from them. The clergy do not know god. The clergy only believe in and worship the fictional gods in their holy storybooks. By never knowing god the clergy can only lie. Lying about god is very wrong. Believing lies about god is even worse.
All religious sects must be dealt with harshly until they apologize and stop pretending that mythology is holy. They have a sinister plot to deceive the whole world into submitting to a mythical god. Gods like Jehovah, Allah, Buddha, and others are only fictional characters in storybooks. The clergy are skilled in using mind control to enslave ignorant believers in religious bondage. This permitted global deception known as religion will only lead to an endless cycle of mistrust and hate between secular and non-secular people. Allowing gullible people to be misled and played with is not very funny. People have better things to do. Maybe one day all ignorant believers will be taught the truth. Until then humanity will have to live with beliefs, lies, secrets, and other deliberately withheld knowledge.
All religions are based on ancient oral traditions and folklore. Most religious books were written thousands of years ago and mainly contain fictional stories and myths. The Judeo-Christian, and Muslim holy books are filled with many untrue stories and myths such as: the Serpent in the tree, Noah's Ark, the Tower of Babel, Jonah and the whale, the Immaculate Conception, the Rapture, the Revelation, second death, etc., etc.
Without a united commitment to truth this world will never learn how to acheive true global trust and love for one another and become the loving global family that it is capable of becoming.

I believe this question is subjective since it depends on the current perspective of the person being asked. In my opinion, religion per se is never negative since it started with an aim to enlighten humankind and not to add a burden. However, due to current events many would say religion has many negative effect, but the positive reason of establishing religion has been obscured by what are happening. Therefore, religion is more positive than being a negative.
