An explicit paragraph leaves no uncertain terms of information. An implicit paragraph provides a point that is less clear.
An explicit paragraph leaves no uncertain terms of information. An implicit paragraph provides a point that is less clear.
An implicit paragraph conveys its main idea indirectly, relying on hints, suggestions, or context clues for readers to infer the central theme. In contrast, an explicit paragraph clearly states its main idea or topic sentence, making it easy for readers to understand the primary point without needing to interpret underlying meanings. While implicit paragraphs encourage deeper engagement and interpretation, explicit paragraphs prioritize clarity and straightforwardness.
explicit is clearly stated and implicit is not clearly stated
Implicit means not actually stated. An implicit paragraph would be one where the author never actually writes out a formal topic or main idea sentence, but where he or she plainly gets the point across without every saying it. You can write implicit paragraphs only where the idea is so general or well known that almost everybody will get the idea just from reading, without it being stated in a separate sentence. Some fables and folktales are good examples of implicit writing - they tell a story that, if you are familiar with the culture, clearly gives the reader a moral lesson without stating that lesson anywhere.
implicit
explicit
When a paragraph is explicit, it contains all the information you need to make it understandable-- in other words, it gives you the facts, and it is very clear about the meaning the author is trying to convey. A paragraph that is implicit "implies"-- in other words, it hints at the meaning. It may use similes and metaphors or other kinds of images, and it does not come right out and say it-- it lets the reader think about it and draw a conclusion about what the author is trying to say.
The opposite of implicit (implied) is explicit (directly expressed).
Implicit memory is unconscious memory, involving skills and routines, while explicit memory is conscious memory, involving facts and events. Implicit learning is learning without awareness of what is being learned, while explicit learning is intentional and conscious learning.
An implicit metaphor implies something, an explicit metaphor explicitly makes something known, probably without doubt.
implicit, explicit
Implicit form is when you forgive them without telling them; explicit form is when you say you forgive them or you cancel their debt if you have given them a loan.
