Dutch and Papiamento are the official languages of Aruba. Papiamento is a mix of native languages with African, Dutch, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish languages. But the use of English is rising constantly because of the importance of tourism to the Caribbean island.

English is the official language of Barbuda. The first permanent European explorers and settlers of the island were Spanish and then French. The English were third in line, and formed a permanent colony and foothold on Barbuda as of 1666.
