I know of 2. Mysql and OpenOffice.org. Mysql is very powerfull and easy to use along with PHP and the programming language running under apache. This will work in Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
Most of todays programming languages were created by open source community, and usually are still maintained by them.
If I say: Level of a helicopter = 130 dB, most people are content. Laymen think that a specific decibel value belongs to a noise source. Like heavy truck = 100 dB, jackhammer = 110 dB, rock band 120 dB. That is not correct. Alway is forgotten that the distance from the sound source to the measuring point plays an important role. Sound level decreases by (−)6 dB per doubling of distance from the source. Without any distance a dB value is really nonsense.
Sound intensity is inversely proportional to the square of the distancefrom the source.-- Increase the distance from the source by 10 times.-- Sound intensity decreases to 1/102 = 1/100 .-- 10 log ( 1/100 ) = -20 dB-- 100 dB - 20 dB = 80 dB
It is a Linux-based open source operating system. Programming languages are in C, C++, and Java, with apps being written in a customized version of Java.
The first item to consider when deciding to learn open source programming is what type of applications you want to work on. There are a range of programming languages used in open source software, and the products available range from full enterprise resources planning systems to animation editing software. Decide where your interests lie and what type of applications are going to be required in the future. It is important to note that all open source programming is fully developed, mature programming languages. These tools are complex, multi-faceted, and designed for use in a wide range of applications. Take the time to review the options before investing the time and effort to learn open source programming. All languages have a specific time commitment required to achieve a specific level of expertise.

Db is a one-half step drop from a standard tuned D. Look up a chord diagram to show you. Typically it is (from small e sting to big E): 1 3 2 open open open

Unix is not open source, it is proprietary. Linux is the open-source version of Unix.
Open Source Geospatial Foundation's motto is 'Your Open Source Compass'.
In 1 meter distance human voice gives a sound pressure level of about 60 dBSPL. 0 dB is 20 µPa. Never forget to tell the distance of the measuring microphone from the sound source, because the closer you are the louder it is. The sound pressure level decreases by 6 dB per doubling of distance from the source to 1/2 (50 %) of the sound pressure initial value. The sound pressure decreases inversely as the distance increases with 1/r from the sound source.
"Open-source" means that the source code of a program is available, and may be modified legally. Open-source programs often tend to be free of charge as well, but that's not what "open-source" means.
