Organs that would contain a lot of er including smooth e.r. would be the liver and the kidneys places where detoxification of anything thats not a proper substrate or foreign substances I.E. alcohol, drugs, chemicals and so on. Keeping the body clean and free of harmful substances.

What is the function of the endoplasmic and reticulum?

The rough endoplasmic reticulum is covered in ribosomes and helps produce most of the proteins. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not have these ribosomes, and is almost solely for producing lipids.

What is a membrane bound organelle found in most eukaryotic cells?

Nuclear membrane. Endoplasmic reticulum. Golgi apparatus. Lysosomes. Transport vesicles. ---------------------------------------- Some membrane bound organelles of the endomembrane system.

What are 3 organelles that are found in both the eukaryotic cell and the prkaryotic cell?

There are Mitochondria which are responsible for the production of ATP and are the sites of the most of the reactions of aerobic respiration. These are most abundant in muscle cells and sperm cells. There are ribosomes which are sites of protein synthesis. These are most abundant in cells that require a lot of protein. The Golgi Apparatus which consists of a number of membrane-bound sacs where proteins and other molecules are modified. They also form lysosomes which are most abundant in phagocytic white blood cells.

Is the reticulum found in plant and animal cells?

Most commonly known as the endoplasmic reticulum can only be found in multi-celled organisms such as plants and animals.

What body part is similar to the endoplasmic reticulum?

The endoplasmic reticulum is located inside the cells in people's bodies. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is repsonible for the production of the protein and lipid components of most of the cell's organelles.

Describe the characteristics of the endoplasmic reticulum?

The endoplasmic reticulum is found in most cells. It's job is to transport proteins around the cell, ensuring it's survival. It's long, and curved in shape, and are in "stacks". It's made out of stacks of membranes. It is almost shaped like a 'wifi signal'. There are two kinds of endoplasmic reticulum: smooth and rough. The rough endoplasmic reticulum appears bumpy, as it will be carrying ribosomes. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum will not appear bumpy and will carry no ribosomes.

What is the relationship between endoplasmic reticulum and cell membrane?

The endoplasmic reticulum is a tubular structure for transportation of materials. It absorbs only selected substances like nutrients at the cell membrane and pushes them to the inner most regions of the cell.

Endoplasimc reticulum analogy?

The endoplasmic reticulum is found in most human cells; it is not found in red blood cells or sperm cells. Its functions include protein synthesis and lipid metabolism.

What is the rough endoplasmis reticulum?

The rough endoplasmic reticulum is a network of membranesin the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells. The membranes enclose a continuous cavity, the lumen, that is separated from the cytoplasm. The lumen of the rough endoplasmic reticulum is continuous with that of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum and with the nuclear envelope. The term "rough" applies to the appearance of the membranes under the electron microscope. They have small, more or less spherical spots attached to them; these are ribosomes. The ribosomes are the sites of polypeptide synthesis. All polypeptides are initially synthesized at free ribosomes in the cytosol, but certain amino acid sequences stimulate special molecules to transfer the ribosomes to the rough endoplasmic reticulum, where polypeptide synthesis continues, with the ribosome embedded in the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum, and the polypeptide formed in the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum.Polypeptides synthesized in the rough endoplasmic reticulum form proteins that are destined for secretion or for certain locations within the cell, including the plasma membrane, lysosomes, or the endoplasmic reticulum itself. The rough endoplasmic reticulum also transports materialsthrough the cell. The lumen forms a series of channels through which these materials can move from one place in the cell to another without entering the cytoplasm.
