Stereotypically drop outs earn less money over a lifetime. However, there are exceptions. Many people have dropped out of high school or college and became respectable writers, artists or entrepreneurs
they wont have qualifications so wont be able to get a high paid job- therefore will be unable to afford to live an adequate lifestyle

Kids either understand the value of school, or are at least willing to go through the motions of attending school, or they don't. Shorter days would have no effect on the number of kids who drop out.
