In South Korea it depends on why you would call someone a 'crook' and most of all, what he or she has actually been accused of. Penalties can vary from a fine to public service to prison terms, just as in for instance the USA.

In North Korea anyone convicted of practically any crime including being critical of the regime will face a term in a concentration camp, varying from several months to life, with camp conditions varying according to the seriousness of the crime or a person's supposed lack of loyalty.
